The mountains of the Silesian Beskid, majestic Mount Barania and the mountain ranges of Czantoria and Stożek have always been the greatest attractions of Wisła. The mountains covered with thick forests used to be a hunters destination, even those of the Habsburg family. Today the place is one of the most popular weekend and holiday destinations in Poland.
As long as in the XIX century the owners of the forests of Cieszyn Silesia and Zywiec realized the necessity of a very well thought out forest management and this policy is still being executed by the State Forest Company, the present manager of the forests. The seat of the company at 6 Czarne Road is open for visitors who would like to learn something about the history of forestry in Wisła and various aspects of forest works. The Historic Chamber and the Forester’s Office were opened in 2007 to mark the 10th anniversary of activities of the forest Superintendence in the field of promotion and education concerning forests and forestry. The Chamber presents the most outstanding foresters fom Wiała, among them Mr. Paweł Sikora who was the first to see the beauty and value of the well known today spruce from Istebna. The Forester’s Office is a reconstruction of the original workplace.
